Organogénesis in vitro en el género Digitalis

Resumen


El género Digitalis es de especial interés gracias a las propiedades terapéuticas de sus metabolitos secundarios, conocidos genéricamente como cardenólidos. Estos son empleados en el tratamiento de enfermedades cardiovasculares y recientemente se han descrito sus propiedades anticancerígenas y antivirales dando respuesta a las principales causas de muerte a nivel mundial. Sin embargo, la producción en campo requiere de dos años para la obtención de semillas y además la variación de las condiciones ambientales influye en el contenido de cardenólidos. Por estas razones y las ventajas que ofrece el cultivo in vitro es que su producción mediante técnicas biotecnológicas ha sido objeto de estudio. La organogénesis ha arrojado resultados positivos, los cuales motivaron la realización del presente trabajo. El objetivo fue presentar una revisión de literatura científica en torno a la regeneración vía organogénesis en el género Digitalis, con atención especial a los factores que han determinado el éxito en la consecución de dicho proceso morfogenético.
